Maddy trained in the professional ballet stream at the School of Dance in Ottawa, Canada, and in the Graduate Programme at Arts Umbrella, Vancouver, Canada. During this time she danced with the Arts Umbrella senior dance company and collaborated with the Ballet B.C. Mentor Program, and at the Banff Centre for the Arts. Upon graduation she danced in Montreal, before coming to London, where she has been working as a performer, teacher, and choreographer since 2004.
Maddy has refined and developed a teaching practice that focuses on contemporary dance, ballet, and choreography. She teaches throughout the UK, mentoring young dancers, vocational students, professional dancers, and choreographers.
In 2007 Maddy founded Tempered Body Dance Theatre, creating a name for herself in the contemporary dance scene in the UK. Her work has been supported by Arts Council England, and has toured the UK and internationally. She choreographs across the dance spectrum, creating choreography for music videos, large scale installations, site-specific work, theatre, and musical theatre, alongside her pure dance/dance theatre focus.
Maddy was resident artist at Chisenhale Dance Space from 2009 - 2011 and associate artist at Rich Mix from 2011 - 2014.
