Maddy began her work as a choreographer in 2007, founding Tempered Body Dance Theatre​ and creating a name for herself in the contemporary dance scene in the UK. Her work has been supported by Arts Council England, and has toured the UK and internationally. Maddy has worked as guest choreographer for, among others,  All Star Productions, Red Banana Productions, Secret Cinema, Future Cinema, and the Victoria & Albert Museum. She choreographs across the dance spectrum, creating choreography for music videos, large scale installations, site-specific work, theatre, and musical theatre, alongside her pure dance/dance theatre focus. In addition to creating strong partnerships with international dance artists, Maddy has collaborated with composers, writers, lighting designers, actors, geneticists, and ethicists.

Maddy also teaches choreography and mentors emerging choreographers.

Maddy was resident artist at Chisenhale Dance Space from 2009 - 2011 and associate artist at Rich Mix from 2011 - 2014.
